I'm so cheap it hurts sometimes.

Here's is my mid-year resolution : the next time I start a knitting project and I don't have the right sized needles and the number of stitches the pattern requires doesn't fit well on my interchangeable needles (my main gripe is they're too short) I will tell myself this, "Spend the money and buy yourself the goddamn bamboo needles". This hopefully will save me much pain and misery spent trying to keep the stitches from falling of the slippery metal needles that are way too short and are also pokey at the end. I mean, shit, I can spend eight bucks at the bar in half an hour, why not spend the eight bucks and make my knitting experience so much better? I think I've learned my lesson. For now...

Signs that you may be working too much...

So this morning at 4 am when luke's alarm went off for his early ass coffee job, I was delerious as usual. This morning though, I told him to be careful because "in my mind you're at Crossroads and your head is almost in the fryer". To clarify, this means that I thought that the pillow was the dark grease in the elephant ears cart at my work and he was trying to sleep in it. Wow. They say not to bring your work home with you. I guess I haven't mastered that one yet.

I'll try not to forget the little people...

So after about a week of training for my summer supervisor position, I've decided that less work + better pay - as much time near greasy food stuffs = awesome! Why is it that people that do less manual labor get more money? Granted I do have to deal with unpleasant manegerial stuff like making big decisions and being more responsible, but hell, I have keys and a weekend parking spot! How cool is that? The only downside thus far is longer hours and no scheduled breaks, but mostly that means that I carry snacks around in my pockets. I could get used to this, which is unfortunate because it's temporary, but the upside to that is that I can take some serious time off after the summer. Hello airstream trip and craft retreat! Nice lights at the end of my tunnel, or carrot at the end of the rope, or something...
